Project: Think Different is an empowerment media organization that is creating a renaissance in the media arts and popular culture that increases civic engagement and dialogue to ensure equity and fairness. We use music, video, and online media as an organizing tool to reach those disengaged and to inspire them to "think differently" and think big about their ability to create positive change in their lives, communities, and society at large. Project: Think Different's (PTD) messages fuel empowering beliefs about our ability to create positive social change.

About The Position:
The Program and Operations Manager will advance Project: Think Different's vision and goals through the following areas:

  1. Program Strategy. Develop and implement program growth strategy in conjunction with the President.
  2. Organizational Vision and Leadership. Work with the President to set an organizational vision reflecting the diverse perspectives of artists, students, staff, and community allies. Provide a strong leadership presence while furthering volunteer ownership and innovation. Manage day-to-day operations of Boston office.
  3. Development, Mentorship, and Evaluation. Develop, support, and continuously improve programs in collaboration with PTD staff, facilitators, volunteers and Action Tank. Supervise and mentor staff, facilitators and volunteers. Project manage key programs and events. Promote evaluation by artists, participants, volunteers, and staff to ensure quality programs.
  4. Collaboration and Relationship Building. Create and sustain partnerships with non-profit, arts, media, higher education, legal, philanthropic, and financial communities.
  5. Fundraising and Resource Identification. Direct and implement fundraising efforts, including cultivating relationships with corporate sponsors and identifying creative resource partnerships. Direct and implement financial management activities.

Qualifications
Project: Think Different’s Program Manager will be:
• A dynamic, passionate leader with the ability to bring focus and inspiration to the staff, volunteers, and Board.
• A strategic thinker and an entrepreneur.
• Capable of integrating staff and volunteer's ownership of dynamic programs with the institutional stability and long-term vision necessary to deliver quality programs.
• Flexible, open-minded, and collaborative.

The Program Manager will also have the following professional qualifications:
• A minimum of 2 years program management and staff supervision experience is strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with strategic planning and organizational development issues; supervising staff and working effectively in a fast paced environment requiring initiative, reliability and resourcefulness; fund-raising; and managing budgets.
• Ability to work effectively in and with diverse communities.
• Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree in relevant field is valuable but not required.

Compensation and Location
Salary is in the high $20's to mid $30's commensurate with experience. Program and Operations Manager is responsible for fundraising a portion of their salary. This position will be based in downtown near the State House in the historic Beacon Hill area of Boston.

About The Position:
Qualified applicants should have 2 years experience in grant writing and/or demonstrated success in fundraising through events and other initiatives. This position needs an individual with strong team orientation, good internal and external customer service skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates must possess the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and must be self-motivated. The applicant must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and Internet research. The ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment, necessitating qualities such as cultural awareness, integrity and humor are also required. Financial management, supervision and organizational development experience is a plus.

The Development & Promotions Manager will advance Project: Think Different’s vision and goals through the following areas: • Support the implementation of the organizational Fundraising Strategy, with the Executive Director
• Manage the foundation proposal process including research of grants and funding opportunities as well as reporting
• Assist with annual giving campaign, cultivate individual donors, manage donor correspondence, and coordinate mailings
• Track annual giving contributions and maintain fundraising database, files, and development calendar
• Coordinate mid and year-end cultivation as well as donor appreciation events
• Assist with event sponsorship
• Lead the development and market research for the implementation of development/marketing plan and assist with public relations and outreach
• Participate in special projects as needed
• Engage volunteers, board and staff in grassroots fundraising efforts
• Develop and sustain communication with program managers
• Coordinate foundation site visits and phone meetings. Convene, plan and document fundraising meetings
• Track PTD’s progress toward its fundraising goals
• Maintain working knowledge on current fundraising and communications practices in the non-profit/community organizing sector
• Write and edit PTD promotional documents and articles
• Lead production and distribution of PTD organizational literature, including brochures, marketing materials, strategic plans/annual reports and periodic web and e-communications

Compensation and Location

About The Position:

The Web Developer will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of PTD's online community. The Electronic Community will expand PTD's frequently visited website into a media resource center, online media arts gallery, and educational hub. The candidate will work with an active steering committee of filmmakers, music producers, professors, hip hop artists, strategic planners, lawyers, advertising, design and operations professionals and a dynamic leader who will serve as a mentor and reference in your future development. This opportunity is perfect for a Digital Media Artist who is interested in the entertainment industry, non-profits, communications, and advertising/agitation propaganda.

  1. Development. Responsible for development, execution, and maintenance of an online hub featuring music and video webstreaming, podcasts, and other scheduled media feeds; online contests, store, calendar, message boards, blogs, video blogs, and electronic newsletters. Will be responsible for all research and resource acquisition relating to the Electronic Community Media Program.
  2. Vision and Leadership. Work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to develop and online presence reflective of the organization's mission and vision, as well as the diverse perspectives of artists, students, staff, and community allies.
  3. Maintenance and Evaluation. Research, identify, and employ tracking techniques for evaluation of program's effectiveness; promote evaluation by artists, participants, volunteers, and staff to ensure quality programs.   5. Day to day IT support and Desktop maintenance. Handle day to day IT support issues as well as acting as liaison between office and contracted IT support. Duties include simple maintenance, fixing printers etc.

Qualifications
Project: Think Different's Web Developer will be:

  • Knowledge of standard design software including Dreamweaver, Flash, GoLive, Frontpage, Photoshop) required
  • Experience converting graphics to web format and utilization of digital media tools such as podcasting, blogging, RSS feeds, bit torrent distribution, and others required
  • Experience as graphic designer strongly preferred.

About the Youth Media Institute

Empowers young people with the tools and resources to become the future leaders of the media industry

  • Media Watch Team provides 10 low-income diverse Boston teens with meaningful year round employment
  • Media Careers Internship Program provides 25 additional teens with industry related internships
  • Our in school programs provide media related enrichment to Boston middle and high school students
  • Media Action Series engages other youth serving organizations in providing interactive media workshops

About The Position:

The Youth Media Institute Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of all Youth Media Institute programming. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Program Manager, the Youth Media Institute Manager provides leadership and development for ongoing youth programming, identifies resources to support this important work, and represents the Youth Media Institute in the community.

  1. Program and Curriculum Development. Develop and implement curriculum and training for Youth Media Institute programs. Responsible for developing relationships with potential workshop hosts and collaborators, devising and coordinating an interactive youth media programming, leading media literacy workshops for diverse groups of youth throughout the Boston area, and setting strategy for ongoing Media Watch Team organizing efforts.

  3. Volunteer and Staff Management. Manage and work closely with PTD's Media Watch Youth Team and part-time facilitators on the development and implementation of workshop content and research. This includes managing multiple off site staff throughout the year.
  4. Development, Mentorship, and Evaluation. Develop, support, and continuously improve programs in collaboration with facilitators, volunteers and Action Tank. Supervise and mentor facilitators and volunteers. Project manage key programs and events. Promote evaluation by artists, participants, volunteers, and staff to ensure quality programs. Grantwriting in support of Youth Media Institute programs, and budget development for ongoing programs and individual partnerships, such as in school programs.
  5. Collaboration and Relationship Building. Create and sustain partnerships with non-profit, arts, media, higher education, legal, philanthropic, financial communities. Specifically, the Youth Media Institute Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships such as our in school programs and our summer programming partnership at BELL (Building Educational Leaders for Life).

About The Position:

The Youth Media Instructor is primarily responsible for facilitating workshops and forums that engage youth in using socially responsible music film video and online media. They will do lesson planning and evaluation for in school programs incorporating music film video and online media, and serve as a point person for PTD in the schools that have PTD programming as well as expanding on our current work.

Position involves
  • Facilitating Project: Think Different's in school and after school curricula focusing on music, film, video and online media
  • Outreach to schools and after school programs
  • Distribution of PTD materials to youth programs and schools
  • Serve as point person for PTD in school campuses and community
  • Assist PTD staff in the development of programs, educational and marketing materials to reach young people

Seeking Media Leaders of the Hip-Hop Generation

Do you want your voice to be heard? We are seeking 10 young people ages 16-19 to join our staff of the Media Watch Team, and become leaders in Project: Think Different’s Media Action Series. Have the exciting opportunity to:
  • Gather samples of music, music videos, television programming, magazines, and websites that reflect what is currently deemed “cool” in hip-hop and popular culture
  • Work with Media Literacy Trainers and a Watch Team Instructor to examine how the media’s images and messages influence our society and ourselves
  • Co-lead workshops and Take Action Initiatives for middle and high school students during our Media Action Series
  • Inspire your peers to be active and informed media watchers and makers!

    About The Position:

    The Media Coordinator will manage all aspects of the development and implementation of PTD’s communications strategies. She or he will manage all aspects of media relations to secure specific coverage. She/he must also write communications material, and assist in the training and support of all staff who participate in media work.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    * Develop and execute intermediate and long-range public relations and public outreach campaign tactics.
    * Identify and secure press coverage in national and state publications, ethnic press markets, print, and broadcast media.
    * Develop and maintain strong relationships with reporters at the regional, state and national levels. Pitch reporters, editors, producers and columnists.
    * Oversee production and maintenance of media lists and tracking of news coverage.
    * Write press releases and press materials as assigned.
    * Assist in the planning and execution of communications programs to enhance the organization’s image amongst policy makers, media contacts and the general public.
    * Work with the team and senior staff in developing and producing print and broadcast advertisements.
    * Assist in coordination of marketing and publicity campaigns to ensure consistency of message and the most effective, efficient and economical results.
    * Establish and maintain relationships with key media representatives, including a strong focus on ethnic press representatives.
    * Build and maintain extensive Internet and media networks.
